Macintosh OS 8 Setup

Doubleclick the hard drive icon on your computer's desktop.
Doubleclick the Internet folder in the hard drive window.
You will then see the Internet Setup Assistant icon. Doubleclick this icon.


Introduction

Click the button labeled Update Add modify, or remove a dial-up or LAN (Local Area Network) Internet configuration. Click the right arrowin the lower right of the window to continue.


The next window is an introduction page, and mentions what information you need to complete the setup. To continue, click the right arrow.


Add Internet Configuration

Select Add Internet Configuration and click the right arrow to continue.


Name of Configuration

In the box labeled Name of configuration, type Internet Montana. Select Modem if you connect using a modem or LAN if you are accessing the internet through a Local Area Network. Most users will select "Modem". Click the right arrow to continue.


Modem Settings

Select your modem type from the list. Select the Modem Port if your modem is internal or is connected to the modem port on your computer. Select Printer Port if you are using an external modem attached to your computer's printer port. Click the right arrow to continue.

Configuration Information

Type in the access phone number for your area.

Type your username and password in the boxes provided. Click the right arrow to continue.


IP Address

Select "No" in answer to Is there an IP address for this configuration. Click the right arrow to continue.

Domain Name Servers

In th box labeled "What is the DNS address for this configuration, enter: 204.212.40.2
What is the Domain Name (or hostname) for this configuration? Enter imt.net
This must be typed all in lowercase. Click the right arrow to continue.


Email Address and Password

Enter your email address and password in the boxes provided. Click the right arrow to continue.


Newsgroup Host Computer

Enter news.imt.net in the box labeled NNTP (Network News Transfer Protocol) host. This must be typed in lowercase. Click the right arrow to continue.


Make sure the Connect when finished box is checked, then click the button labeled Go ahead.
